A celebration to remember.

Let’s be real – COVID was disrupting for us all.

But for hundreds of couples, COVID not only signified a world-wide shut down and the disappearance of normalcy, it also hijacked their wedding plans. When COVID hit the world, many engaged couples had two options – postpone the wedding or marry now and celebrate later.

With their wedding scheduled for late March 2020, Garret and Lindsay chose the latter. They didn’t want to wait to start their forever together.

The couple had first met in church where the future bride was leading worship and saw the groom in the audience.

Garret and Lindsay bonded over their mutual love of the outdoors, waterfalls, Jesus and Kings Kaleidoscope. After that first date, they both went home and wrote in their journals they had found the one they wanted to marry.

When they learned their families had been missionaries together in Ecuador, Garret’s grandma welcomed Lindsay to the family right then and there. And the rest, as it’s said, is history.

The couple got engaged at a waterfall in Rocky Mountain National Park, where Garret asked Lindsay if she would be his “adventure partner for life.” Her answer? “Of course!”

When COVID ruined their big wedding plans, they didn’t want to wait to start their life together. The couple married in a small, intimate ceremony, and spent their first two years of marriage in their new home state of Colorado.

“We love it!” Lindsay says about marriage. “We love the big moments of adventures and the ordinary moments of going to the grocery store together or cleaning the house.”

But while they love married life, they were still dreaming of the wedding they didn’t get to have.

Lindsay said they had almost decided not to have their big celebration, but after going to another friend’s post-COVID wedding celebration and seeing how relaxed and fun it was, they decided to have theirs after all.

When asked what they were most looking forward to about the event, they said their first dance and getting family photos.

They got that and more at their vow renewal and wedding celebration held at The Venue at Shadow Rock on April 3, 2022.

If anything, having to wait two years to celebrate just made it that much better. The celebration was super relaxed, fun, and just that – one big celebration!

Their wedding décor was beautiful, earthy, and simple. Dried grasses and florals in both dark and clear glass jars, cloth napkins in creamy neutrals, oranges, and mustards, and feathery pampas grass brought strong boho vibes to the event, and the big wood record player at the guest book table brought in just the right amount of vintage feels.

Guests signed a record to mark their presence, as well as underlining their favorite verse in Lindsay and Garret’s family Bible. Coffee mugs were arranged by the outdoor coffee bar (catered by Vintage Paris) and guests could take home the mug they chose to use. From the wedding dress to the décor, the bride thrifted for nearly everything, and more than one house plant adorned the tables, which she said, “is so her.”

The whole day was a beautifully authentic celebration of who they are and the love they share, and so many of their friends and family came out to celebrate.

Getting to see how loved, supported and celebrated the couple is was a very special part of the day.

When asked what advice they had for couples just starting out on their marriage journey, they said, “Don't have unrealistic expectations and enjoy the magic of ordinary moments. When you are married, anything can be a date so make sure you set aside intentional moments of connecting. Even 10 minutes a day of intentionally asking how the other is, goes a long way. Have grace for each other and continue to grow and pray together!”

Great advice from an amazing couple!
